Addressing climate change has been one of the hottest topics these years. Climate Finance is the financial solution to climate change and low-carbon economy transition. Chapter 1 and 2 are the foundation of the book, which analyze the influences of climate change on human survival, major economic sectors as well as the world political and economic pattern. It then explores the capital requirement of addressing climate change, points out the role of the finance in tackling climate change. These two chapters as also identify three contradictions between the nature of capital and tackling climate change. One of the book’s innovations is defining ‘Climate Finance’ and differentiating it with ‘Carbon Finance’ and ‘Green Finance’, which provide insights for audiences into understanding Climate Change.
Chapter 3 to 8 aim to construct and analyze the overarching framework of Climate Change. The framework involves policies, capital sources and utilization, markets and instruments as well as institutions and regulations etc. The last chapter provides policy recommendations for policy selection, instrument innovation and financial institution development in the form of case studies.
