RCCEF Host ‘2013 International Forum on Green Industry and Green Investment’ RESEARCH CENTER FOR CLIMATM AN

On July 5th, ‘2013 International Forum on Green Industry and Green Investment’ was held in China National Convention Center (CNCC). The forum was jointly convened by RCCEF, International Business School of Beijing Foreign Studies University and Society of Management Science of China.

 

The president Zhen Han, vice president Long Peng from Beijing Foreign Study University, Maneul Pinhol, the former minister of Portugal Economic and Innovation Department and the professor from Columbia University, professor Jason Bordoff, the director of Energy Research Center of Columbia University, Huan Liu, the State counselor and the professor of Central University of Finance and Economics participated in the forum. 150 guests from well-known Green Industry research institutions and pioneer green enterprises also attended.



 



 

 



 

The forum began with key speech. Maneul Pinhol, the former minister of Portugal Economic and Innovation Department and the director of Energy Research Center of Columbia University, made comprehensive analysis on Chinese energy security issues. He indicated that the only solution to it is to develop new energy business. Professor Jason Bordoff, the director of Energy Research Center of Columbia University, made a speech on ‘American Energy Recovery’, which introduced the challenges and opportunities facing American Energy. Nbuo Tanaka, the former manager of International Energy Agency and the professor from University of Tokyo introduced the challenges of Asia energy market.



 

The vice president of Beijing Foreign Study University, professor Long Peng introduced the BRICS countries’ carbon policies. He also pointed out that China should develop green technology and build the carbon market in order to be a world leader in low-carbon area. Huan Liu, the State counselor and the professor of Central University of Finance and Economics,had the speech on preferential tax policies of promoting China’s new energy development. Quan Zheng, the deputy director of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Fund Management Center in Ministry of Finance, introduced the innovative financing model for low carbon development.



 

In the closed-door discussion, experts discussed the climate financing issues. The RCCEF director Yao Wang and deputy director Yifang Liu presented on climate financing strategic framework and climate capital measurement. Following this, Cuihua Sun, the deputy director of National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Climate Change Department, Aiming Ma, the general office director of NDRC Climate Change Department,professor Zhihong Wei from Institute of Nuclear and New Energy Technology, Tsinghua University, Xiaohua Zhang, the director of National Center for Strategic Research and International Cooperation on Climate Change, Maoheng Tang, the chief product manager of Corporate Banking, Bank of China, Zhaoying Tian, the CEO of Shanxi Environment and Energy Exchange, Jing Wang, the general manager of Tianjin Climate Exchange, Renhu Tang, the chief scientist on carbon trading and investment of CITICS Securities, Miao Liu, the officer of CDM Fund Management Center in Ministry of Finance,provided valuable insights for the research.
